All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines essential terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Acocks Green, you must be at least 21 years old, although some vehicle categories may have different age requirements. A valid driving licence for the appropriate vehicle type is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Be prepared to meet any other specific conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Acocks Green office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The total payment and security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and appropriate charges will apply. The vehicle should also be returned with the same level of fuel as when it was collected; refueling charges will be applied if it is not. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur additional fees. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that arise during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms

Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial liability. It’s important to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and you must adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the specified geographical areas requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Acocks Green is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
